Puzzle Pieces of History: Mariners Park Archeological Program

17Apr2021

Local treasures unearthed by Bert Yankielun in Mariners Park

From 3.00 pm until 4.00 pm

The Stonington Public Library and Evergreen Garden Club will present "Puzzle Pieces of History," a glimpse of Mariners Park's archeological history in a Zoom program.

In the past year, history buff and Deer Isle resident Bert Yankielun unearthed a treasure trove of artifacts using his metal detector throughout Mariners Park. The results range from a Victorian mourning broach to horse harness buckles and even a brass suspender clip. Some of the finds have not been identified and the public is encouraged to suggest what they might be.

To join the presentation, learn how these items were discovered and view all the major finds, register below or email the library at librarian@stoningtonlibrary.org.
