My World Is an Island by Elisabeth Ogilvie
From 6.30 pm until 7.30 pm
Perhaps it's in the air. Or maybe it's in the water. The Maine coast and its neighboring islands inspire writers, and last year welcomed one of the newest voices to the fray: Kate Hotchkiss. Her historical series opens with On Harbor's Edge and will follow the family's arc from Mildred's arrival on Popplestone Isle in 1912 through the present day.
The book club discussion will happen as planned on Monday, June 28 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, but stay tuned for more! The author will join us for a separate event. First things first. Read her debut novel, and remember: all readers welcome!
Summary from the author's webpage:
When an unsuspecting bride gets into a boat one stormy June day in 1912, Thaddeus takes her far out to sea to the end of Popplestone Isle. There villagers welcome Mildred with hopeful joy, but she discovers the tiny fishing community is headed for a most dreadful end. In her efforts to save their treasured harbor home, Mildred must risk losing everything she holds dear.
